The program can offer advice on what areas of your home are potentially at risk in case of a hurricane. And, it can often provide substantial discounts on your homeowners policy. You must apply and be approved to be eligible for the free inspection.

According to My Safe Florida Home the inspections are on a first come, first serve basis, and can be discontinued at anytime. Currently, there is a backlog of requests for inspections. Matching grants were available to make upgrades on your home, but they have discontinued the grant portion of the program.
